Content Based Learning Method
Scopul meu ca profesor, este de a crea o atmosferă care facilitează învățarea, și nu mă refer doar la materia pe care o predau, ci la învățarea unor cunoștințe despre lume, la învățarea unor valori, la descoperirea unor pasiuni, înclinații, pe baza cărora își pot dezvolta propria viziune asupra lumii. De aceea, subiectele, materialele, textele suport pe care le aleg pentru a fi citite și discutate în cadrul orelor de limbă engleză sunt menite să îi provoace în a gândi mai departe de barierele orelor mele, să descopere lucruri noi, informații utile pe care le pot aplica în diverse domenii.
Content Based Learning (Învățarea pe bază de conținut) este o metodă eficientă prin care nu mai predăm liste de vocabular pe care copiii trebuie să le memoreze mecanic, ci le introducem cuvintele noi în context, dar într-un context cu conținut ce prezintă interes pentru elevi, ce răspunde în același timp nevoilor lor de învățare, precum și curiozității lor științifice.
Personal, cred că motivația unui elev crește atunci când acesta învață despre ceva ce îi face plăcere, decât să studieze limba. Ce poate fi mai motivant și pentru noi ca profesori decât să-ți vezi elevii creând ceva frumos sau un proiect științific și învățând limba în același timp?

OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

LEAD IN – ORGANIZING THE CLASS: Time: 1’
– the teacher enters the classroom and greets the students;

WARM UP: Time: 5’
The T reviews the known materials by drawing a mind map on the board and eliciting the answers from the Ss.
PRESENTATION: Time: 10’
The students are shown a presentation with materials and are asked to classify them into natural and made-man materials.
PRODUCTION:
ACTIVITY 1: Listen, think and answer Time: 7’
AIM: to listen for specific information and to practice the structure be made of;
OBJECTIVE: Ss will listen for details and provide answers;
PROCEDURE: Children open their PBs at p 47 and elicit the materials they can hear. T checks understanding by means of an Yes/No exercise. They practice how to ask and answer questions using be made of in pairs.

ACTIVITY 2: Read in pairs Time: 12’
AIM: to read aloud in pairs
OBJECTIVE: Ss will read aloud in pairs;
PROCEDURE: T gives the Ss some worksheets about materials and their properties and asks them to read the texts in pairs, taking turns in reading aloud. T monitors their work and checks with the whole class the understanding of the texts. At the end of the activity the T projects a grid on the Whiteboard in order for them to circle the natural materials.
ACTIVITY 3: Interactive Science Game Time: 9’
AIM: to use the new vocabulary and to ask and answer questions in a collaborative way
OBJECTIVE: Ss will do the activities at the Interactive Whiteboard
PROCEDURE: Ss will play the game, try all the activities, read and listen to interesting information about materials.
